According to the notes on the back
of this painting, it was one of the
first Carl Ahrens ever did. It is one of the
few known works that are unsigned. It is still in the family so there is no doubt as to the artist. Apparently he never intended
anyone outside the family to possess
or even see this painting. Even the most
simple of his sketches are usually signed with his full signature.
