This painting is the first one of the California
Missions that I have found. It would have been painted in the summer of 1906. Carl's wife, Madonna, once claimed this painting for herself, but years later Carl forgot and gave it to a friend of his. I am happy to report
that as of September of 2008, this painting is back in the family.
